About the book

"Divergent" by Veronica Roth is the thrilling first book in a dystopian trilogy that introduces readers to a world where society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to cultivating a particular virtue: Abnegation (selflessness), Amity (peace), Candor (honesty), Dauntless (bravery), and Erudite (knowledge). At the age of 16, every citizen must choose the faction to which they will devote their lives. For Beatrice "Tris" Prior, the decision is particularly difficult because she doesn’t fit neatly into any one faction—she is Divergent.

As Tris leaves her family in Abnegation to join the daring and fearless Dauntless, she discovers that being Divergent is both dangerous and powerful. In Dauntless, she faces intense physical and psychological challenges, pushing her to her limits. Along the way, she forms close bonds with other initiates and catches the eye of the mysterious and brooding trainer, Tobias (Four). As Tris struggles to keep her Divergence a secret, she uncovers a conspiracy that threatens to unravel the very fabric of their society.

"Divergent" is a gripping story of identity, courage, and rebellion. Veronica Roth creates a world that is both intriguing and perilous, with a strong heroine who must decide who she truly is and where she belongs.
