The Clever Fox
00:00 / 03:23

In a lively forest near a small Indian village, animals lived their daily lives. Birds sang, monkeys played, and deer grazed peacefully. Near the edge of the forest, a sly fox named Raju made his home. Raju was known for his sharp mind and quick thinking.

One sunny afternoon, while Raju was sunbathing by the river, a hungry wolf named Babu prowled nearby. Babu was always scheming to get an easy meal. He had heard of Raju's cleverness and decided to test his luck.

Babu spotted Raju and approached him with a friendly grin. "Hello, Raju! I’ve heard you’re the cleverest animal in the forest. How about a little challenge?"

Raju looked up, curious. "Oh? And what kind of challenge?"

Babu licked his lips, trying to hide his greed. "I have a basket of sweet berries. If you can solve my riddle, I’ll share them with you. If not, I get to keep your home for myself!"

Raju chuckled, feeling confident. "Alright, let's hear your riddle."

Babu thought for a moment and then said, "What is something that has keys but can't open locks?"

Raju pondered for a while. He could hear the distant chatter of other animals and the rustling of leaves. After a few seconds, he had an idea. "A piano," he answered with a smile.

Babu's eyes widened. He hadn’t expected Raju to get it right. "Hmm, you’re clever indeed. But that’s just the first part. For the second part, you must find the golden feather hidden somewhere in this forest. Find it, and the berries are yours!"

Babu pointed to a thick bush and then sauntered away, leaving Raju alone. Raju looked at the bush and noticed a faint glimmering under the leaves.

As he approached the bush, Raju saw a small, golden feather sticking out from a hole. He carefully pulled it out and noticed a tiny piece of parchment attached to it. It had another riddle: "I am not alive, but I grow. I don’t have lungs, but I need air. What am I?"

Raju thought deeply. He remembered how the forest animals gathered around the campfire at night. "A fire!" he said aloud.

Raju walked back to his spot by the river, only to find Babu pacing impatiently. "Did you find the feather?"

Raju showed him the golden feather and answered confidently, "Yes, I did. And the answer to your riddle is ‘fire.’"

Babu frowned, realizing he had underestimated Raju. "You’ve won, Raju. Here are your berries." Babu handed over the basket with a sigh.

Raju thanked Babu and watched as the wolf slinked away, grumbling about his failed plan. The clever fox shared the sweet berries with his friends, who were thrilled and impressed by his cleverness.

That evening, as the forest animals gathered to celebrate, Raju smiled to himself. He knew that with a sharp mind and a kind heart, he could handle any challenge that came his way.

And so, the forest remained a place of joy and friendship, with Raju the fox as its clever and beloved hero.
