In a small village in India, the sun was hot and bright every day. The villagers were worried. Their crops were dying, and the wells were dry. “We need water,” said Arjun, a farmer, to his friend Ravi. “If it doesn’t rain soon, we will have no food.”
Ganesha, a large, gentle elephant, lived in the nearby jungle. He heard the villagers’ worries as he walked by. Ganesha’s big ears flapped as he listened. “I must help them,” he thought.
The next day, Ganesha arrived at the village. The villagers were amazed to see him. “What are you doing here, Ganesha?” asked Aarti, a young girl with a warm smile.
“I heard about your trouble,” Ganesha said softly. “I want to help. I will dig a pond for you.”
The villagers were surprised. “But it’s a huge task!” said Arjun. “Are you sure you can do it?”
Ganesha nodded. “I am strong. I can do it.”
So, Ganesha started to dig. His large trunk was perfect for moving the dirt. He worked hard every day. The sun was hot, and the ground was dry, but Ganesha didn’t stop.
The villagers watched in wonder. They brought him fruits and water. “Thank you, Ganesha,” Aarti said, giving him a juicy mango. “You are doing a great job.”
Ganesha smiled. “I am happy to help.”
Days turned into weeks. Ganesha kept digging. The hole grew bigger and bigger. One evening, as Ganesha worked, he heard a strange sound. He stopped and listened. It was the sound of water!
Ganesha’s heart raced with excitement. He dug faster. Soon, he found an underground stream. Water began to flow into the pond. The villagers gathered around, cheering and clapping. They could hardly believe their eyes.
The next day, the villagers were overjoyed. They filled their pots and watered their plants. They danced and sang songs of thanks. “The pond is full!” said Arjun. “We have water again!”
Ganesha watched with happiness. He was glad to see the villagers smiling. He felt proud of his work.
As the sun began to set, Ganesha prepared to leave. The villagers came to say goodbye. “Thank you for saving us, Ganesha,” said Arjun, shaking Ganesha’s trunk.
“We will always remember your kindness,” Aarti said, hugging him tightly.
Ganesha beamed. “I am glad I could help. Remember to always help one another.”
With a final wave, Ganesha turned and walked back to the jungle. The villagers watched him go, grateful for the kind elephant who had brought water and joy to their lives. They knew they would never forget his big heart and his hard work.
