The Magic Water Drop
00:00 / 06:15

Once upon a time, in a small village in India, there was a lively park where kids loved to play. It was always sunny, and the trees had big, green leaves that provided much-needed shade. On one such afternoon, a group of friends—Aman, Priya, and Ravi—were playing near the pond.

Aman, the most energetic of the bunch, kicked a ball across the park. “Catch it, Priya!” he yelled. But Priya wasn’t paying attention. Instead, she was looking at something sparkling on the water’s surface.

“Priya, what’s up?” Ravi asked, noticing her distracted expression.

Priya pointed at the shimmering object on the pond. “Look, there’s a tiny water drop floating on the water!” she said, squinting.

Aman ran over, laughing. “Priya, it’s just a water droplet. What’s so special about that?”

But Priya’s eyes were wide with wonder. “No, Aman! It looks… different. It’s glowing!”

And just like that, the water drop began to grow bigger and bigger, until it hopped out of the pond with a little splash and landed right in front of them!

“Whoah! Did that just… move?” Ravi gasped.

The water drop twinkled and spoke in a high-pitched voice. “Hi there! I’m Splash, the magical water drop!” The kids stared at the talking droplet, their mouths open in shock.

“Splash?” Priya asked, “Are you really a… water droplet?”

“Yup! And I’ve come to show you something very important,” Splash said, bouncing up and down with excitement. “Something that’ll change the way you look at water forever.”

“Okay, I’m listening!” said Ravi, intrigued.

Splash giggled. “I’m going to show you why conserving water is the most important thing we can do for the planet!”

The three friends looked at each other, confused. “Conserving water? But we always have enough water in the village, don’t we?” Aman said.

Splash nodded sadly. “Not always. In many places, water is disappearing faster than you think. You have to be careful with it, or one day it might not be there when you need it.”

Priya frowned. “But how can we make sure that doesn’t happen?”

Splash swirled in the air. “Follow me, and I’ll show you!”

The three kids followed Splash as it led them to a nearby tap. It was dripping slowly, one drop at a time.

“See this?” Splash said, pointing to the dripping tap. “Every single drop counts. If taps like this keep leaking, the water is wasted. Imagine how many drops are wasted every day, just like this.”

The kids looked at each other in surprise. Ravi scratched his head. “But it’s just one drop. That doesn’t seem like a lot.”

Splash grinned. “Let’s do some quick math!” It quickly spun in the air, and suddenly, a giant chalkboard appeared in front of them.

“Imagine this tap drips one drop every second,” Splash began. “In one minute, that’s 60 drops. In one hour, that’s 3,600 drops! In one day—86,400 drops! Can you believe it?”

The kids gasped. “That’s a lot!” Priya exclaimed.

“It sure is,” Splash said. “Now think about all the taps in the whole village. Imagine how much water is wasted if they all leak like this!”

Aman’s eyes widened. “So, if we fix the taps and make sure they don’t leak, we can save a lot of water?”

“Exactly!” Splash said. “But that’s not all. There’s more you can do to save water every day.”

Splash led them to a large water tank near the park. It was half-empty. “This tank collects water from the rain, but if we don’t use it wisely, it’ll run out faster than we think,” Splash explained. “Instead of leaving the tap running when you brush your teeth, turn it off! Or take shorter showers, like a quick 5-minute splash!”

The kids nodded eagerly. “We can do that!” Priya said.

“But Splash, what if we run out of water completely? What will we do then?” Ravi asked, his face serious.

Splash’s smile faded for a moment. “That’s why you have to start saving water now. If everyone makes small changes, the whole village will have enough water for a long time. It’s in your hands.”

The kids stood still for a moment, thinking about how their small actions could have a big impact.

“Wow, I didn’t realize how important this was,” Aman said, looking at the tank with new understanding.

“Me neither,” Priya added. “From now on, I’ll turn off the tap while brushing my teeth. No more wasting water!”

Ravi grinned. “And I’ll make sure our water tank stays full by using less water for everything!”

Splash twirled happily in the air. “That’s the spirit! Remember, every drop counts, and if everyone does their part, we can make sure there’s enough water for all of us!”

With that, Splash started to shrink down, becoming smaller and smaller until it was just a tiny drop again, floating peacefully above the pond.

The kids waved goodbye, promising to remember the lesson Splash had taught them.

From that day on, Aman, Priya, and Ravi made sure to save every drop of water they could, spreading the message of water conservation to everyone they met.

And the village, little by little, began to use water more wisely. Thanks to the magical water drop named Splash, they all learned that it’s not just about having water—it’s about making every drop count!

Moral of the Story:
Saving water is important! Small actions like fixing leaky taps, using water wisely, and spreading awareness can make a big difference in conserving this precious resource. Every drop counts!
