Timmy loved his sheep more than anything in the world. Every morning, he would walk up the hill to see them graze. "Good morning, Fluffy!" Timmy would say, patting his favorite sheep on its woolly back.
One day, Timmy noticed something strange. One of the sheep was missing. "Where could it be?" he wondered, a little worried. Timmy spent all day looking, calling out, "Here, Sheepy, Sheepy!" but the sheep was nowhere to be found.
Not far from Timmy’s farm, there was another field. Mr. Jones, the owner of the field, was busy working. He noticed something moving in the bushes. "What's that?" he said to himself, walking closer. It was a small, frightened sheep.
"Poor thing," Mr. Jones said, softly. "You must be lost." He gently led the sheep to his barn, giving it some water. "You’ll be safe here," he assured the sheep.
The next day, Mr. Jones decided to visit the nearby farms to see if anyone had lost a sheep. As he walked past Timmy's farm, he saw Timmy sitting on a rock, looking sad. "Good morning, Timmy!" Mr. Jones greeted him. "Why the long face?"
Timmy sighed, "One of my sheep is missing, Mr. Jones. I've looked everywhere, but I can't find it."
Mr. Jones smiled. "I think I might have found your sheep. Come with me."
Timmy's eyes lit up. "Really? Oh, thank you, Mr. Jones!"
They walked together to Mr. Jones' barn. As soon as they reached, the lost sheep ran towards Timmy, bleating happily. Timmy hugged the sheep, relieved and joyful. "I missed you so much!" he said, stroking its wool.
Mr. Jones watched them with a warm smile. "I knew it was yours. You take such good care of your sheep, Timmy."
Timmy looked up at Mr. Jones, grateful. "Thank you for finding her, Mr. Jones. How can I repay you?"
Mr. Jones shook his head, "No need for anything, Timmy. Just keep being the kind and caring person you are."
Later that evening, as Timmy led his sheep back home, he thought about what Mr. Jones said. "I guess kindness is its own reward," he said to himself.
The next day, Timmy's friends from the village heard about what happened. "Mr. Jones found your sheep and gave it back without asking for anything?" asked Lucy, his friend.
"Yes," Timmy replied, smiling. "He’s a good man."
Inspired by Mr. Jones, Timmy decided to do something nice in return. He baked some fresh bread with his mother and took it to Mr. Jones. "This is for you," Timmy said, handing over the warm bread. "Just a small thank you."
Mr. Jones was touched. "Thank you, Timmy. You're a thoughtful boy."
From then on, Timmy and Mr. Jones became great friends. They would often help each other out, whether it was fixing a fence or sharing a meal. The whole village noticed the bond they shared, and soon, everyone started treating Mr. Jones with more respect and kindness.
One day, as they were sitting under a tree, Timmy asked Mr. Jones, "Why did you help me without expecting anything in return?"
Mr. Jones smiled, "Because kindness always finds its way back to you, Timmy. It’s like a circle—what you give comes back to you."
Timmy thought about this for a moment and nodded. "I want to be like you when I grow up, Mr. Jones."
Mr. Jones chuckled, "You already are, Timmy."
The two of them watched the sunset, feeling happy and content. The sheep were safely back in their pen, and the village was filled with warmth and kindness, all because of a small act of goodwill.
Lesson: Kindness and goodwill never go unnoticed. When you do good for others, it comes back to you in unexpected and wonderful ways.
