Arnav loved to explore. Every day after school, he would race to the local park, looking for new places to hide, climb, and discover. But today was different. Today, he was carrying something special—his grandfather’s old magnetic compass.
“Yeh kya hai?” asked Arnav’s best friend, Sameer, as he noticed the shiny, round object in Arnav’s hand.
“Yeh hai magnetic compass!” Arnav grinned, excited. “Mujhe yeh samajhna hai—kaha se kaha jaane ki direction milti hai.”
Sameer raised an eyebrow. “Compass? Tumhe pata hai yeh kya karta hai?”
“Yup! This little thing helps you know directions—north, south, east, and west. Agar tumhe kisi jagah ka rasta pata karna ho, yeh tumhari madad karega,” Arnav explained proudly.
Sameer scratched his head. “Direction? Matlab... aise like the way we go to school?”
Arnav nodded. “Exactly! Imagine hum kahin bhi jaa rahe ho—forest, hills, ya even to the market—agar humein direction pata ho, toh hum kabhi bhi ghoomenge nahi!”
Sameer wasn’t convinced. “Mujhe lagta hai, compass wale din gaye... mobile mein toh sab direction bata deti hai!”
Arnav laughed. “Par mobile ka signal kabhi-kabhi chala jaata hai, right? Maan le hum jungle mein hai, koi signal nahi. Tab yeh compass kaam aayega!”
Sameer was still a bit confused but decided to go along. “Chalo, dekhte hain kaise kaam karta hai,” he said, following Arnav as they ventured into the park.
Arnav pulled the compass out of his pocket. The needle inside it swung wildly for a moment before settling on one direction. "Yeh north ka direction hai," Arnav said confidently.
Sameer stared at it. “Matlab, north kaun sa direction hai?”
Arnav smiled. “Samajh... samajh. See, compass ka needle hamesha north ki taraf point karega. Yeh humein batata hai ki hum kis direction mein ja rahe hain.”
Sameer scratched his chin. “Interesting... But, yeh kaise pata karte hai, ki yeh north hai? I mean, kaise pata chala?”
Arnav looked at him seriously. “Yeh ek science ka part hai. Compass mein ek chhota sa magnet hota hai, aur earth bhi ek magnet hai. North pole aur south pole hote hain, aur compass ka needle un poles ko attract karta hai. Isliye needle hamesha north ki taraf point karta hai.”
Sameer blinked. “Woh... Matlab duniya mein invisible magnets hote hain?”
“Exactly!” Arnav said, looking proud of himself. “Aur woh magnetism humare compass ko direction dikhane mein madad karta hai!”
Sameer’s eyes widened. “Yeh toh waah hai! Tumhare grandpa ne yeh kaha tha na?”
Arnav nodded. “Haan, unhone kaha tha ki agar hum directions samajhte hain, toh hum kahin bhi aasani se pahuch sakte hain.”
Just as they were talking, a sudden gust of wind blew, and the compass needle started spinning uncontrollably. Both boys stared at it in surprise.
“Ayyo! Ab kya ho gaya?” Sameer asked, looking worried.
Arnav shook his head. “Yeh normal hai. Jab compass kisi metal ya electric object ke paas hota hai, toh needle disturb ho sakti hai. Humare mobile, cars, aur buildings mein aise metals hote hain jo magnetic field ko affect karte hain.”
Sameer laughed. “Toh matlab, hum zameen pe khade ho kar compass ka use karte hain, par agar kisi ka room ho, waha mobile ho, toh compass kaam nahi karega?”
Arnav chuckled. “Haan! Tum samajh gaye. Compass ka kaam humare environment pe depend karta hai. Par forest ya jungle mein yeh kaafi useful ho sakta hai!”
Arnav suddenly got an idea. “Chalo, maze karte hain. Let's play a game! Tum compass ke madad se north dhoondhoge, aur main tumhe roadblocks doonga!”
Sameer agreed excitedly. The boys set off, with Arnav giving clues and Sameer following the directions using the compass. They had a blast—climbing over benches, dodging trees, and laughing all along the way. With each step, Sameer started to understand the magic of the compass better.
"Yaar, yeh sach mein kaam karta hai!" Sameer said after finding the final destination. “Agar yeh compass na hota, toh hum kabhi yeh nahi kar paate!”
Arnav grinned. “I told you! Direction seekhne se, humein na sirf road milta hai, but hum zindagi ke raaste bhi dhundhte hain.”
Sameer gave him a curious look. “Zindagi ke raaste? Matlab?”
Arnav thought for a moment and said, “Jab tumhe pata ho ki tumhare goals kis direction mein hain, toh tumhe rukna nahi padta. Tumhare paas ek compass hona chahiye—jo tumhe guide kare, chahe jo bhi challenge ho.”
Sameer nodded thoughtfully. “Hmmm... samajh gaya. Direction toh zaroori hai. Agar hum yeh samajh paaye, toh hum galat raste pe nahi jaayenge.”
“Bilkul!” Arnav said, his eyes gleaming. “And always remember—whether it’s science or life, understanding the right direction helps us move forward.”
The two friends sat on a nearby bench, feeling accomplished. The compass had taught them more than just directions; it had shown them that with the right guidance, anything was possible.
And so, as the sun began to set, Arnav and Sameer promised to use their own compass of knowledge and values to always find the right way—no matter where life took them.
