IND vs ENG 2024 Test Series: Squad Announced for First Two Matches

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially unveiled the Indian squad for the upcoming Test series against England. Set to kick off the home Test series, the team, captained by Rohit Sharma, aims to build on its recent success in Cape Town, where they secured a historic Test victory on January 4, catapulting them to the top of the World Test Championship (WTC) standings.

The first two Test matches of the five-match series of IND vs

ENG will witness India taking on England at home. The opening clash is scheduled for January 25 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Let's delve into the squad and key highlights:

Uttar Pradesh's talented wicketkeeper-batter, Dhruv Jurel, has received his maiden call-up to the national team. Jurel is the third wicketkeeping option behind stalwarts KL Rahul and KS Bharat and adds depth to the team's lineup.

Despite the team's recent success, veterans Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane find themselves overlooked once again. Additionally, Ishan Kishan misses out on selection. The remainder of the batting unit maintains continuity with the South Africa tour squad after IND vs ENG.

Avesh Khan joins the pace battery, led by designated vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah. The inclusion of Mohammed Siraj and Mukesh Kumar further strengthens India's fast-bowling options.

In familiar home conditions, India is set to rely heavily on its spin department to outplay the English side. Kuldeep Yadav has been selected to cover spin maestros R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel.

With a blend of experience and fresh talent, the Indian squad is geared up to face England in the challenging Test series. The inclusion of Dhruv Jurel and Avesh Khan, coupled with the spin prowess of Kuldeep Yadav, reflects a strategic approach to combat the English side on home turf.
